Whether or not you’ve ever been on an Asian cruise, a lot of exciting ports of call have been added to the average Asian cruise itinerary. Cruise lines such as Costa Cruise Line, Azamara Cruises, Seabourn Cruises, Regent Seven Seas, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Royal Caribbean Cruises have all updated their ports of call to include many new and exciting Asia locales. An Asian cruise already offers an unforgettable cultural experience, and now the quality is improved with all of the additional ports of call.

Among the new ports of call on Asian cruises are some exciting locations in Malaysia. The port in Sandakan offers a great place to observe unique wildlife such as the proboscis monkey. Sandakan was formerly the capital of British North Borneo and used to be home to the wealthy and elite during the historical timber industry. Kota Kinablu, located in Sabah, Malaysia, is a great addition to the Asian cruise for anyone who enjoys nature and athleticism. Be sure to visit the incredible rainforests that are home to many exotic and wonderful species, such as orangutans or enjoy beautiful views of marine life and exotic coral reef formations. An Asian cruise would not be complete without a stop in Kuching (located in Sarawak, Malaysia) where you can enjoy a shore excursion to an ancient village or experience incredible historic monuments such as temples and Chinese shop houses.

There are also several new ports of call added to the Asian cruise lines in Indonesia. The exciting city of Padang Bay, Bali allows travelers to explore the uniqueness and beauty of the Hindu culture. Travelers can immerse themselves in some of the finest arts and crafts in the entire world such as one of a kind wood carvings and incredible sculpted masks. The natural landscape is also incredible to behold and houses over 10,000 temples, volcanic mountains, tropical rainforests and river gorges.

Also located in Indonesia, the port of call located in the city of Semarang is home to Borobudur, the famous Buddhist temple. Visitors can also enjoy a historical tour through the Island of Lombok, famous for Sask weaving, an interesting art form that art enthusiasts are sure to enjoy. Also among the new Asian cruise Indonesian ports of call is Komodo Island, famous for the largest lizard in the world that occupied the earth during the dinosaur era- the Komodo Dragon.

Not to be forgotten on the new additions to the ports of call on Asian cruises are a few key stops in South Korea. Jeju Island is known as the “Island of the Gods” or the “Hawaii of the Orient” because of its paradise-like beauty and world class beaches. Also well known for its shitake mushrooms and cactus plants, the island is also home to Mt. Halasan, which is a 6,000 foot answer to the avid hiker’s prayers. A favorite of those seeking great food and history, Mokpo, South Korea offers many types of exotic foods and is home to the Mokpo Modern History Museum.

The Asian cruise lines are still offering lots of other great ports of call in locations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Halong Bay, Phuket, Bangkok, Shanghai and Xingang, but these additional ports of call will certainly add a bit more variety and excitement to the average Asian cruise.
