The Oasis of the Seas is the world’s largest cruise ship ever built, at least until this article is written. There is plenty of room for 6,400 guests and a grand total of 16 decks filled with entertainment and attractions. But keeping 6,400 people entertained is no easy task and is for this reason that the Oasis of the Seas has so much to do.
This cruise ship is not only big in stature but in price as well, with a price tag of $1.24 billion creating this ship was no small task. For many cruise ships the term “floating city” has often be used, but never before has the term held such meaning. The Oasis will have everything that you will find in a normal city and so much more.
To fit the idea of a floating city, the ship is actually divided into neighborhoods. That should give you some idea of why this is the largest cruise ship in the world. There are seven neighborhoods in all and to fit the city theme there will be a central park, complete with growing green plants and a merry go round, a boardwalk with plenty of shops, an aqua theater, pools, and an entire section of the ship is dedicated to a Youth Zone. Each neighborhood has loft-style suits and a buzzing nightlife coming from the large numbers of bars and clubs that can be found.
The Youth Zone is the largest of its kind on the sea and is completely divided into sections based on age. There are events and activities specially designed for each age group and there is even a kid’s only theater!
But that is just the beginning because with all there is to do on the world’s largest cruise ship you will never want to get off! There is a zip line for those looking to get their heart racing, two wave riders for those who want to learn to surf, four pools, a rock climbing wall and a roller rink. If that isn’t enough, wait until the lights go down and the entertainment heats up. The AquaTheater quickly transforms from a pool into one of the most amazing choreographed water shows you will ever see, with high dives, trapeze artists and trampoline artists all performed at sea under the beauty of the stars.
The service and food is equal to the amount of over the top entertainment and there is no way to not be amazed by all the Oasis of the Seas has to offer. This $1.24 billion ship dwarfs its closest competitor and it seems highly unlike that any ship will be trying to claim the title of World’s Largest Cruise Ship any time soon.
